Acts 7:59 & 60
“While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed,
“Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
Then he fell on his knees and cried out,
“Lord, do not hold this sin against them.”
When he had said this, he fell asleep.”
Stephen reminds me of Jesus in this passage, like seriously, Stephen rocks. (no pun intended)
He forgave those who were STONING HIM. GAH that’s just heart wrenching and sickening and…amazing…
The thought of being stoned to DEATH sounds so wrong.
But forgiving them; that’s so right.
Is there a person in your life, who did something or said something to you, and they asked for forgiveness but you couldn’t give it to them? Maybe they haven’t even asked for forgiveness. What’s holding you back from forgiving them?
Forgiveness of sins is a major blessing in this life.
THANK YOU JESUS FOR BECOMING SIN ITSELF TO SAVE ME!!!
Second post as promised 🙂
“The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me;
Your love, O Lord, endures forever–
do not abandon the works of Your hands.”
God has a purpose for me? Whoa! NEAT-O!
Ever wonder what we’re on the Earth for? Yeah, we know we’re here to spread the Gospel, but what I mean is more.
Where is God going to lead me, what will I do for Him?
I love to travel and play guitar, but I don’t know if I’m worth going into the music industry; it’s too hard and I’m not that good. I just play guitar in church and on my travels witness some of God’s miracles on Earth via scenery.
I wonder where I will be in three years.
Will I be in another state–country–continent?
What will I be doing?
I guess no matter where I will be, who I will be with, or when I know; I have faith that God has a purpose for me and that He will fulfill His promises. His love is all I need to get through each day.
Thank you Lord for your helping hands and your loving character.
I can’t wait to find out where God is going to lead me next, and how I will fall in love with Him even more.
AHHHHH! I’m sorry, yesterday I was so busy ALL DAY that I didn’t have time to write. Oh man…
Well, today, I will just post twice 🙂 hahaha
The amazing Esther once said, “…And if I perish, I perish”
What faith she had! I would like to think that if I was ever placed in a situation like that, I would be courageous enough to speak up and not let fear drown me.
When trial comes and fear begins to pour, I pray that I will look to God first. I pray that I will have the courage to stand up for Christ and be His shining witness to those of whom are around me.
Lord, give me courage like Esther, help me to voice Your will instead of mine; just as Jesus had.
“A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
Often times I find it quite amusing how one person’s attitude can transform those around. Whether it be a happy, mad, sad, joyous, or a mundane disposition, we control the atmosphere at least half the time.
We; as Christians, have a bad reputation as it is, so I believe that the first way we can begin to alter this is through our overall outlook on life and the way we approach it.
A smile has an interesting effect. Generally, when some one smiles at you, you smile back. Why? It may be a kind gesture, but it’s also an uplifting and kind thing that makes us happier on the inside!
A smile is a natural drug; some people have an addiction to it, some use it as a cover up, others use it in spurts, and to others it comes naturally and consistently. It’s contagious! A smile can light up the room and draw attention.
People may wonder:
“What is the reason behind that vivacious smile?”
“I want to have, what they have”
Let’s watch our attitudes more often and SMILE more!
I have succeeded posting twice in a row-HOORAY! Let’s see if I can keep up this challenge.
Leviticus 18:4 & 5
“You must obey My laws and be careful to follow My decrees. I am the Lord your God. Keep My decrees and laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord.”
Be careful to follow, eh?
I find that part of the passage especially intriguing, because there are times in this life when it’s hard to decipher what is God and what is our self. I have been in situations where I end up being so confused because I listened to my head and/or emotions and not my Lord.
Making sure our heart is in line with God is one of the biggest tests of our everyday lives…and sadly, often we fail I regret that I am definitely a testament to this failure.
For the man who obeys them will live by them.
Live by the laws of God; let them guide your steps and you will never stray.
I like that. 🙂
Are you contemplating over something and unsure whether God is talking or your own self? Ask God to make it clearer because you don’t want to mess up. .Yearn.
And if He doesn’t make it clear…then don’t worry about it. Maybe it’s not as big of a deal, or it’s not the right time to deal with it yet.
I am going to begin writing a Bible verse everyday, for thirty days.
These are to help you live a better life.
This is aimed at women, but men can read also.
” Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.”
We are all beautiful in God’s sight and His opinion is the only one that matters in the end. We have been made in His image, and how can we say that God is ugly?
So, all women need discretion.
Sometimes we as women are so focused on getting guys attention that we decide to lower ourselves to the level of showing more skin. WHY would you want to attract a guy that goes for your body before he knows YOU?
If we as women keep abusing our bodies by showing them off too much we are “as ugly as a gold ring in a pig’s snout”.
Let’s help each other and give each other a hint when we’re showing too much skin in front of men.
“The Lord is slow to anger and great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of His feet.”
I love that last part…the dust of His feet…it places a picture in my mind of how great God undoubtedly is! No, this isn’t a literal measurement, but it shows how mighty He is.
I honestly think that fearing God has been diluted more and more over the years. No one ever stops to think that God is able to punish us for our sins; crush us for our disobedience; take away people we love because of our stubborn pride.
When we sin, we need to confess that sin to God and repent of it. I looked up ‘repent’ in a dictionary and this what it said:
“to feel such sorrow for sin or fault as if disposed to change one’s life for the better”
Change one’s life.
When we repent, we try never to do that sin again!
Has someone ever said, “I’m sorry” and you say, “That’s ok//it’s alright”?
That needs changing.
We should say, “I forgive you” because it’s obvious that IT IS NOT ALRIGHT TO SIN.
Back to my main point
God is so mighty and powerful and even in Nahum 1:2 it says:
“The Lord is a jealous and avenging God;
the Lord takes vengeance and is filled with wrath.
The Lord takes vengeance on His foes
and maintains His wrath against His enemies.”
I think that we seriously need a slap in the face; a reality check, when it comes to this sorta thing. GOD IS FILLED WITH WRATH. Fear His power and watch what you do, He can always see you and you never know what your consequences might be…
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
and men…that goes for you too…
Women!!! We are to be praised for our fear in the Lord!!! It is a very good thing to fear our almighty Creator! It’s more important than your flirtations and gorgeous God-given looks.
What is anything on this Earth worth, if it doesn’t help us further God’s Kingdom?
Keep close to God’s guidelines and consistently purify yourself. Ask God if there is anything in your life that is pushing Him away.
And if you receive an answer…then I suggest you follow up with what God says.
