Questioning Your Purpose; What Are You Meant to Do?

I think everyone questions what their purpose is.
With so many aspects that makeup why you’re unique, I don’t think there’s only ONE thing you’re made for…

  • Extrovert or Introvert?
  • Sensing or Intuitive?
  • Thinking or Feeling?
  • Judging or Perceiving?
  • Phlegmatic, Sanguine, Choleric, or Melancholy?
  • Love Language? Physical Touch, Word of Affirmation, Gifts, Quality Time, or Acts of Service
  • What talents do you have?
  • Left or Right Brained?
  • Spiritual Gifts that you’ve received?
  • What strengths do you have?
  • Optimist or Pessimist?
  • What are your passions?

Are you worn out?? Maybe you’ve been asking these questions lately:

“What am I doing with my life?”
“Is this what I’m gonna do forever?”
“Should I go back to school?”
Maybe you just graduated high school are are thinking: “Should I go to college just because my parents say I should?”
“Is this a waste of my time?”

Either way, you’re desired result is (most likely)
“I want to love what I do and get the most out of life while making good enough money to support the lifestyle I choose.”

So, in school, if you have an equation:
x+y=z
and you have two of those, you can figure out the third.
x+y=loving what you do etc…

so if (x) is figuring out your specialized characteristics and personality from the chart above, and (y) is a job then really, since most of us don’t find the job we want to do right away, we should leave (y) to figure out last.

Figure out yourself first.
What were the threads God used to knit together your tapestry?
Since Mi Amor is an artist, I know that if you truly want to know about the work and the truths behind it, you can only ask one person;  the artist. Bystanders might be able to receive the message, but what got the artist to that point? What decisions were made to create it?

So, in order to figure out yourself, you have to talk to your Creator. Let Him define who you are for it will be truth.

As you analyze your personality and characteristic chart, write down your answers somewhere you can see them every day. See these as your own personal recipe; no one can ever replicate it.
Since there are so many facets to you, why do people think there’s ONLY ONE THING IN ONE PLACE YOU WERE MEANT FOR? Where is that in stone?

See your potential. Start noticing when you use your strengths for daily life. Exercise those strengths and make them stronger. Use them intentionally, don’t just whine and say, “I want to do what I love, I’m annoyed because I’m not getting an answer, and I’d rather stay in bed than figure it out.”
Psh, honey, you best get on your feet. No one is going to figure it out for you, if you don’t have the attention span to do it yourself. Life isn’t easy, as I’m sure you know now, so if you don’t like the spot you’re in, work hard for the one you want. Make sure you’re aligning yourself up with what the Creator desires of you. Something I’ve learned in the last year is this:
Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,
He refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil,
for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

And so, sometimes, He places us in the Valley of the Shadow of Death…just because your situation isn’t ‘to your standards of good’ doesn’t mean its not where you’re supposed to be.
Delight yourself in Him
